The Gayatri Mantra is one of the oldest and most powerful Sanskrit mantras, traditionally chanted at sunrise and sunset.
Oṃ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ tatsaviturvareṇyaṃ bhargo devasya dhīmahi dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt
We meditate on the divine light of that adorable Sun of Spiritual Consciousness, which illuminates all the three worlds. May that light enlighten our intellect.
This sacred mantra is a prayer to the Sun (both physical and spiritual) for illumination of the intellect. It is considered the mother of all Vedas.
